postheadericon Horrible Bosses (2011) - DVD - 3gp

Kurt actually likes his job and his boss, well, up until his boss dies and the boss's coked-out, psychopathic son takes over. postheadericon Woody Allen Wouldn Hestitate to Cast Michelle Obama in a Movie

If another term in the White House doesn't happen, First Lady Michelle Obama might have a fallback: Woody Allen says he "wouldn't hesitate to ask her" to be in one of his movies. He's actually done it before: Allen cast France's First Lady, Carla Bruni, as a museum tour guide in 'Midnight in Paris.' Allen told the British television program Daybreak that he made the decision to cast Bruni on a whim while having dinner with her and husband Nicolas Sarkozy, and if fate threw him together with Michelle Obama, he'd happily make her the same offer.

postheadericon Third Largest Theater Chain May Boycott Tower Heist Over VOD

You weren't the only person to scoff at the idea of Universal offering the upcoming action comedy 'Tower Heist' to residents of Atlanta, Ga. and Portland, Ore. via on-demand services for the high, high price of $59.99 three weeks after its release. Theater owners did too! Rather than show their disdain with snarky tweets and/or head shakes though, one company has decided to take action: Cinemark, the nation's third largest theater chain behind AMC and Regal, said on Thursday that it would not screen 'Tower Heist' in any of its 300 theaters if the studio follows through with its on-demand plan.

postheadericon The Princess Bride Cast Reunites on Good Morning America

Buttercup, Westley and Miracle Max all in the same room?! Yes, the cast of 'The Princess Bride' reunited on the set of Good Morning America on Friday to reminisce about the fairytale flick and its place in film history. (Also, is 'The Princess Bride' really more than twenty years old? Yikes.) So, if you've ever wanted to see Billy Crystal wear his Miracle Max hat or know what it was like kissing Cary Elwes, then check out the video ahead.

postheadericon The Most Banned Horror Movies in History

The controversial 'Human Centipede II: Full Sequence' opening Friday in 18 select theaters around the country has already achieved a mountain of notorious hype. The sequel to 2010's shocker about a mad doctor obsessed with surgically connecting people mouth-to-anus promises to be even more disgusting and brutal -- and with reports that 'Human Centipede II' features even more graphic torture, bodily fluids and rape, it's no surprise that the movie getting into trouble.

postheadericon Sean Young Recreates Crazy Catwoman Stunt To Prove She Not Crazy

Some of you might be too young to remember the time Sean Young tried to prove she'd be the perfect catwoman in 'Batman Returns' by dressing up in a homemade costume and stalking Tim Burton. (Needless to say, she didn't get the role.) But this week she donned the outfit again to prove she's "ready to pay my dues," as she's having trouble getting work. See her cringe-worthy appearance on 'The Late Show With David Letterman' after the jump.

postheadericon Screw You Human Centipede II

Sobering thought before you check out for happy hour on Friday afternoon: we currently live in a world where there are not one, but two movies about creating human centipedes. When the aliens from 'A.I.' are surveying the wreckage of Earth in 3,000 years, that's the type of thing that they might point at and say, "Thank God these guys are gone." Put another way: this is why we can't have nice things

postheadericon Presidents Clinton and Bartlet Watch The Way Together

Last night, a well-to-do crowd of generous New Yorkers enjoyed a rare opportunity to hang out with two presidents of the United States: Bill Clinton and Josiah Bartlet. The occasion was a charity screening of 'The Way,' starring Martin Sheen -- who played Bartlet on 'The West Wing' from 1999 to 2006 -- and directed by Sheen's son Emilio Estevez. Clinton, who was there to support the evening's beneficiary, The Walkabout Foundation, went out of his way to thank "my friend Martin Sheen, who when I left the White House became my president." (That's a George Bush joke, for those playing at home.) "I try to show the appropriate deference."

Cilento also starred with Charlton Heston in 'The Agony and the Ecstasy' and appeared in the original 'Wicker Man' and 'Moulin Rouge.' From 1962-1973, Cilentro was married to movie star Sean Connery. The couple had one son together.

Directed by Simon Curtis and released by The Weinstein Company, 'My Week With Marilyn' arrives in theaters on Nov. 4. Check out some gorgeous stills of Williams, Redmayne, Branagh and co-star Emma Watson ahead.

postheadericon Morning Grind: Johnny Depp Could Play Dr. Seuss

If only Johnny Depp would play more eccentric authors! Oh. Wait. The poor-at-comparisons mega-star is set to produce a live-action film about Theodor Geisel (a.k.a. Dr. Seuss) for Illumination Entertainment with eyes toward possibly starring as well. Per THR, "the film is unlikely to take the fantastical CGI-coated style of 'Alice in Wonderland,'" but that hasn't been ruled out. Illumination has produced 'Despicable Me' and 'Hop,' and has an adaptation of Geisel's 'The Lorax' set for next year. [THR/Risky Business]

postheadericon John Travolta Gotti Movie May Have Run Out of Money

It's hard to make a film when you don't have any money to pay your actors. 'Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father,' starring John Travolta, Al Pacino, Ben Foster and possibly Joe Pesci, has been put on hold because there is "no money to move forward." According to ShowBiz411, producer Marc Fiore has been unable to raise the necessary funds for the project. It looks like that meeting John Travolta had with John Gotti's wife didn't make much of a difference.

postheadericon It Like Sherlock Holmes Meets Se7en Watch the Trailer for The Raven

You might not have thought a movie about a serial killer mimicking the works of Edgar Allen Poe would make for great cinema, but the trailer for 'The Raven' is here to prove otherwise. What initially seemed like a joke-y conceit -- John Cusack is Edgar Allen Poe -- looks kinda great. Or at least better than 'From Hell' and 'Sleepy Hollow.' Watch ahead.

postheadericon Is Real Steel the Best Bad Movie You Can See This Year? (And 24 Other Urgent Questions)

'Real Steel,' a movie about robots that box, opens today at a theater near you. The very-popular Hugh Jackman stars, but there's a catch: To watch 'Real Steel', a pre-set amount of your nation's legal tender will have to be exchanged with a representative of your local theater for admittance. Legal tender that was earned, most likely, at a place that you don't enjoy spending time. Will you enjoy spending time watching 'Real Steel'? As a service, here's an answer for every question that you could possibly have about 'Real Steel.'

postheadericon Five Chapters in the Origin Story of George Clooney

George Clooney directs and co-stars in this weekend's new political thriller 'The Ides of March.' Before George Clooney was a Very Famous Person, he used to spend his time on a show called 'E/R.' (I promise: the 'E/R' that we are talking about is not at all the 'ER' that you're thinking of right now.) After that he would go on to hang out with Joe Polniaczek on 'The Facts of Life.' Even a Very Famous Person like George Clooney has an origin, and sometimes that origin has you starring in 'Return of the Killer Tomatoes!'

postheadericon Director of Judge Dredd Remake Reportedly Gets Fired

It's rare that a director gets fired from a production after filming wraps, but according to the LA Times that's just what happened to 'Dredd' director Pete Travis. Per the Times, creative disagreements between producers and executives reached a boiling point recently, causing Travis's ouster. Writer-producer Alex Garland ('28 Days Later') is now taking over post-production tasks and may even seek a co-directing credit for all the work he has put in over the course of the movie. If you're still trying to figure out why a remake was even considered for Sylvester Stallone's cheesy futuristic cop drama 'Judge Dredd,' this news certainly doesn't offer any answers.

postheadericon Is Shame the Most Taboo Movie of the Year

Since its much-buzzed about debut at the Venice Film Festival in August, 'Shame' has become the source of much discussion among Oscar cognoscenti -- though not in the way you might think. After all, there is little debate about star Michael Fassbender's lead performance in the Steve McQueen-directed film about a sex-addicted New Yorker: he's towering, brilliant, heartbreaking and pretty much guaranteed to earn one of the five slots in this year's Best Actor derby. This despite playing a guy who may have had an incestuous relationship with his sister.

Aaron Eckhart has been cast as Frankenstein in 'I, Frankenstein,' a modern-day version of Mary Shelley's classic tale. The film follows Adam Frankenstein, who has survived to present day due to a genetic quirk in his creation and finds himself in a centuries-old war between two immortal clans. Eckhart already has experience playing a monster, when he starred as Harvey "Two-Face" Dent in 2008's 'The Dark Knight' (although, Adam Frankenstein doesn't sound nearly as evil as Two-Face). Directed by Stuart Beattie, 'I, Frankenstein' is slated for a February, 2013 release date. [Deadline]

postheadericon 5 Famous Cinephiles Attempt to Explain Mulholland Drive Ten Years Later

Saturday marks the tenth anniversary of David Lynch's 'Mulholland Drive.' Honestly, I'm not even going to pretend I know what 'Mulholland Drive' is about (though, Roger Ebert, God bless him, just might). What was originally intended to be a pilot for a television series later became one of the most bizarre and confusing movies ever to hit a theater. David Lynch seems to be celebrating the anniversary by opening a Paris nightclub based on the Silencio theater in the film. Unfortunately, I am not at all cool enough to go to Lynch's club (or any club, really), so instead I called an assortment of FOMF (which stands for Friends of Moviefone, a term I just coined right this second) to get their opinions of Lynch's classic film ten years later.

postheadericon Witness the Tragic Love and Incredible Life of The Lady

Shot under a veil of secrecy due to the sensitive nature of its subject, "The Lady," an inspiring drama based on the life of the Burmese pro-democracy activist Aung San Suu Kyi, has finally finished filming and is ready to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival next month, also expected to be screened at a number of international film festivals in the fall before widely release in theaters everywhere. Inspired by one of the greatest love stories set against a background of political turmoil that still continues to this day, “The Lady” is the extraordinary story of how Aung San Suu Kyi and her husband Michael Aris gave up their happiness at great cost when the wife's country called upon her. Yet despite distance, long separations, danger and an actively hostile regime their love endured until the end. The Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi had been unjustly detained by the government of Myanmar (Burma) for 15 out of the past 21 years. She was released on November 13, 2010, after her latest 7 year term of detention expired and French director Luc Besson swiftly, and reasonably quietly, made a movie about her starring one of the most acclaimed Asian actresses Michelle Yeoh. But many quickly judge the film as another propaganda-ish political drama while in fact, since the first ever draft of the script penned by Rebecca Frayn, it was conceived to tell the incredible yet poignant love story between Aung San Suu Kyi and her late husband Michael Aris. It’s not a total biopic either since the story will only be set between 1988 – when Aung San Suu Kyi left Oxford to visit her sick mother and ended up staying – and 1999, the year when Aris died after being diagnosed with cancer. Aris had been forbidden from entering Burma, a decision that left Aung San Suu Kyi with the almost impossible decision of whether to stay or go. “The film builds to that incredible and depressing crossroads ,” said the movie producer Andy Harries who with his novelist and screenwriter wife, Frayn, visited Burma back in the early 1990s when Suu Kyi had just won the election but was under house arrest.
"It's not just a political story - it's a tragic love story. This is a woman educated at Oxford, married to an Englishman and who has two sons. She goes to her homeland to help for a few months and it turns into a 20-year house arrest," Harries added. "It's a love triangle. She is torn between her love of her country, which looks to her as a symbol of hope, and her family. Her husband, who spent 10 years campaigning for her, died of cancer having been denied entry to see her and she still remains estranged from her children. "Filmed largely in Thailand and Burma, whose beautiful cities, fecund jungles and diverse cultures fill the screen with dynamic colour and rich detail, “The Lady” tells the story of one of the world's most prominent prisoners of conscience, Aung San Suu Kyi's simultaneous triumph and tragedy. Michelle Yeoh eloquently embodies Suu Kyi's tranquil defiance and wisdom -- yet her political struggle is only half of the story. Played with great tenderness by David Thewlis, Michael Aris was Suu Kyi's British husband and tireless advocate, and he is the film's second protagonist. Through the months and years he and Suu Kyi were unable to be see one another, Aris worked to raise awareness of injustice in Burma and campaigned for his wife's nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize (which she won, though she was unable to accept it in person), all the while suffering her absence, struggling with his own illness and trying his best to be a good father to their two sons.
At once epic and intimate, disturbing and galvanizing, “The Lady” celebrates the struggle of a people and the difference that a single strong-willed individual can make in the world.# The story was written over a period of three years by Rebecca frayn. Interviews with key figures in Aung san suu Kyi's entourage enabled her to reconstruct for the first time the true story of Burma's national heroine.
# The tentative titles of the film were “The Divided Heart” and “Freedom From Fear”. It also originally titled as “Into The Light” before renamed to “The Lady” later.
# The title of the film, "The Lady," is the name by which Aung San Suu Kyi is known by the Burmese people who see her as a beacon of grace and courage against the odds, and who risk incurring the wrath of the authorities for publicly uttering her name.
# Production began in Thailand on October 18th under the French title "Dans La Lumiere" (Into the Light). It was kept as a top secret. Some of the actors did not even know who they would be playing when flying to Bangkok. According to French media, director Luc Besson had been working on the film project in the summer, and all participants were required to sign confidentiality agreements.
# Shooting took place in Bangkok and nearby locations, including Muang Thong Thani, Khlong Song in Pathum Thani, and the old Bangkok airport. Filmmakers used Thailand to stand in for Burma, and hundreds of Thai people were hired to portray Burmese, according to the Bangkok Post newspaper.
# The movie project has been brought to director Luc Besson by Michelle Yeoh because she appreciated him for having directed films about strong women before. Besson took the project on but admitted doubts.
# Although always been petite, Michelle still lost weight for this role. Asked about her commitment she described the film as "an incredible love story" against the background of "political turmoil". Paris Match shared her opinion by saying it was an extraordinary story of love between her deceased husband Michael Aris and a woman who sacrifices her personal happiness for her people. “It's a factual movie. We are not trying to demonize or glorify anybody. We do not try to change, because it is an incredible love story to start off with, but then I think anything to do with her will always have to be political,” said Michelle.

# Michelle Yeoh not only strongly resembles the lissome Nobel laureate, but also occupies the part so convincingly that Besson calls it 'perfect for her.'
# Many people commented that Michelle and Aung San Suu Kyi look very much alike. Asked about how similar they are, Michelle said after meeting with Aung San Suu Kyi she indeed felt they have a similar build and looks. She revealed that at one point they were curious who was taller and so they took off shoes and compared their heights - "We have the same height!"
# Michelle had a chance to meet Aung San Suu Kyi personally toward the end of the Thailand shooting last December. She recalls they had great time together. She said meeting with Aung San Suu Kyi was like visiting an auntie. "She is very nice, frank and straight forward," said Michelle. "She talked about the times during her house arrest. She is elegant, smart, strong, and talented." Michelle said that Aung San Suu Kyi had seen some of her action films before. Kim Aris, Suu Kyi's younger son who was on the filming set, is a fan of Michelle and even jokingly suggested they should add some action scenes to the film.
# Michelle revealed that she did a lot of research personally in order to portray the role of Burma's democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi. She had collected a lot of materials, read almost 50 books, and listened to many interviews. She said she was not trying to imitate Aung San Suu Kyi. She was trying to understand her. "I feel very proud to play the character of such an influential woman," said Michelle.
# The movie crew created an exact replica of the house in which Suu Kyi was imprisoned for 15 of the last 22 years, from 2,000 photographs, even using Google Earth to check the dimensions and the position of the trees. Besson says: "You should have seen the face of her son when he came to see it. He couldn't believe it. He looked everywhere and the only thing he said was, 'The piano was not here, it was over there.'"
# The first poster for the film designed by American contemporary artist Shepard Fairey (of the Obama poster) based on his own previous poster for Aung San Suu Kyi in June 2009 when the imprisoned Nobel Peace Prize laureate turned 64.
"The film makers asked me to do the movie poster based on my original Aung San Suu Kyi poster, but the illustration is of Michelle Yeoh, the actress who plays [her]. Any project that tells Aung San Suu Kyi's story and sheds light on Burma, I'm psyched to support. The small clips of the film I've seen look amazing." Fairey explained.
# Myanmar government has now put Michelle on a blacklist and denied her entry into Myanmar/Burma. She was deported the same day as she arrived at Yangon on June 22, 2011.

postheadericon These Horrors are Hungrier Than the Hungriest Ghosts

Scary movies may come in many different forms, but our most favorite here is the supernatural one, a creepy atmospheric ghost story pepper with a little pleasant touch of gothic ambiance. Therefore, here are some that likely meet the criteria in our list of upcoming horror flicks that you (probably) never heard of before, another horrific addition to the “August Bloody Wicked Month of Horror”:
Coming out in October this year, just in time to celebrate the Halloween, is Singapore made horror flick directed by Gilbert Chan.
Playing with key components for atmospheric horror such as secluded island, the military and a spooky urban legend, it looks like the production values of “23:59” are pretty high for a local production and the cinematography also look solid based on the released teaser trailers.
The official synopsis:
A rumor had been circulating like wild fire amongst the soldiers. A mad woman living on the island had died at the exact hour of 23:59, and it is believed that her spirit had returned to haunt the soldiers at the exact same time.
One of the recruits, Tan, the introverted platoon outcast, is adamant that he will be the next victim of the mad woman's spirit. He tries to convince his buddy Jeremy that the woman's spirit has been visiting him every night. Jeremy laughs it off and claims that there are no such things as ghosts in this world. They only exist because of Tan's overactive imagination.
However, during the 24 km road march for the platoon in the forest, Tan was found dead by the river, with his limbs contorted in a strange way and an expression of deep fear on his face. Overwhelmed with guilt, Jeremy decides to investigate Tan's death, convinced that it was not an accident as what the military officers believe. Little does he know that the truth behind Tan's death will unearth a terrible dark secret of the island and he will have to confront his deepest fears in order to find the truth.

And here’s the short but shocking movie clip for the film:

Prepare your luggage. Prepare your courage. The flight is about to take off.
Starts with a plane crash where everyone on board is killed, except one, a beautiful flight attendant named Sunee escapes death almost miraculously. After the investigation, it turns out that the plane has had several accidents before, and every time it was repaired and repainted to regain its normal condition. This confirms Sunee that the strange hallucinations she saw while working on the plane were not the product of her imagination, but actually spirits of the passengers who died on it.
Sunee finds a new job at another airline. She wants to start her life anew. But three years later, the nightmare catches up with her. She learns that the flight that she’ll operate on today will use the same aircraft that crashed three years ago.
On this flight Sunee will face the terror that she cannot escape – on the plane that has become the prison for so many spirits and dead souls. This time, they’re determined to take her along on their last flight.
Promises another most terrifying experience, “Dark Flight” is created by the team who has brought out Thailand’s cult horror franchise “Art of the Devil”.

New horror from Yam Laranas, the director of “The Echo” that’s one of the most popular horror films from Philippines. Though slated for an October release, the real plot is still keeping out of the spotlight other than terms such as “dead. end. stay. forever. dead” and “Nobody Leaves the Road. . .”, which are present on the director’s official blog. But few creepy photos and the new released atmospheric teaser trailer below are actually made the film looks like an Asian horror movie every horror movie enthusiasts’ been waiting for.

Upcoming French period chiller with original title “Derrière les murs” is come from duo director Julien Lacombe and Pascal Sid. Stars French actress and fashion model Laetitia Casta, the film was shot in 3D that uses the added dimension less to pop things out of the screen than to sink the viewer into the world of its lead character. The premise itself is the sort of classy tale of the supernatural that fans of “The Orphanage” will absolutely enjoy.
Centre of France, 1922. Suzanne , a young novelist lacking inspiration decides to isolate herself in the countryside to write her new book. As Suzanne discovers a sealed-up room in the basement of her house, she starts writing oddly easily. Visions and nightmares soon strike her while the villagers grow worried as several little girls mysteriously disappear...

The story of Mae Nak Phrakhanong also known as Nang Nak, a figure of horror and despair from one of Thailand's most enduring ghost legends, has been told through movie for decades. And now, the legendary spirit will appear again in the 22nd remake where it will be told through the most modern technology in movie industry called 3D.
Many years ago in an old district of Bangkok, Phra Khanong, there lived a young couple, Tid and Mae Nak. Mae Nak was expecting her first child when her husband Tid was drafted into the army to fight against the Burmese. While Tid was away, unfortunately both mother and child died during childbirth. Mae Nak’s love for her husband was so great and her spirit so strong that she returned as a ghost and both she and her child assumed human form. Tid, unaware of these events, returned home and life for the young couple resumed as normal until one of Tid’s friends told him about his wife’s death. Tid did not believe him until one day, whilst eating supper together, a spoon was dropped and instinctively Mae Nak stretched out her arm to an extraordinary length to recover it. Tid questioned his wife about everything and eventually Mae Nak broke down and admitted that she had died and was now a ghost. Tid fled the house and took refuge in a temple.
Mae Nak begged her husband to come out of the temple but still terrified he refused. She flew into a rage and began to terrorize the villagers for having told her husband the truth. She went on a killing spree and even disposed of a Mho Phi (ghost hunter) whom the villagers had employed to exorcise Mae Nak. Every night Mae Nak would stand outside the temple where her husband was hiding and scream and wail for his return.

Another horror project from Thailand with one very interesting premise about an ancient curse that deformed a family and the only way to stop it is to find a secret ancient tomb hidden somewhere in Bangkok.
Here’s the nice lengthy plot synopsis for the movie:
"Anake is the only descendent of the Phram priesthood, an ancient bloodline. He is responsible for keeping the memory of his ancestors and their traditions alive. But he has run away from his duty to live a simple life with his wife and daughter in modern Bangkok. One day, a wealthy man called Rout calls on Anake for help, asking him to break a curse that has returned from the past. The female members of his family have become deformed, their limbs twisting in painful contortions. Even the children are not spared. Anake is hesitant to re-enter the domain of dark arts, but is persuaded by the money Rout can pay to secure the future of his own family. He returns to his childhood home to research the curse and discover how it was once stopped.
Anake learns that 200 years ago, before Bangkok was established, there was a young woman who swore revenge against Rout's bloodline for eternity. After death, her body refused to decay, as if willpower was maintaining both it and her curse. Anake's great-great-grandfather sealed the angry spirit of the woman in a secret place. In the family library, Anake finds two ancient books: one details how to trap evil spirits, the other details nine places in Bangkok where the rituals must be performed. But only one page of the second book remains, describing the ninth place where the woman's spirit might lie. The only clue that may lead him further is a painting of the woman on the wall of the family temple and the few cryptic lines of a poem. Anake begins his terrifying journey to find the nine secret places, surviving encounters with evil spirits who hold vital clues and desire for revenge. Unexpectedly, his own young daughter is struck down with the curse, twisting her limbs in agony."

postheadericon WU XIA: Smart, Fresh, Stylistic Martial Arts Spectacle

In the very first stage of production of his new film, “Wu Xia”, director Peter Chan Ho-sun has claimed that he aims to rejuvenate the martial arts genre with the project, create something unique to the choreography by injecting medical and scientific elements into it. In some ways, the final result has showed that Chan has succeeded in fusing together the elements that appeal to international audiences with some of the best martial arts sensibilities. In his first directorial outing since the 2007 costume epic “The Warlords” and first collaboration with martial arts moneymaker Donnie Yen, Chan also plays into the current mini-wave of period Asian detective movies (Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame, Detective K: Secret of Virtuous Widow) while presenting a practically proverbial Kung Fu movie plot in a fresh way.
Set in 1917, the late Qing Dynasty, Donnie Yen is a paper maker Liu Jinxi who lives a plain but happily life with his small family in an idyllic Chinese country village. Liu suddenly attracts the unwanted attention of the law when he accidentally kills two criminals who bust up his workshop and threaten to kill his fellow shopkeepers. Eccentric investigator Xu Baijiu (Takeshi Kaneshiro) soon arrives, putting his unique knowledge of martial arts, acupuncture and homeopathy to task and deducing that the two men can only have been killed by someone with extraordinary fighting ability. Xu's convinced that Liu is possibly the long-sought fugitive, a violent mass murderer and a member of the 72 demons, a bloodthirsty criminal gang. Liu's peaceful existence begin to shattered as he's forced to fight to protect the family he loves and to maintain the happy life that he has built for himself
# The main plot about an assassin who’s in hiding but then needs to deal with unraveling identity and the dark past somehow bear some resemblances to last year John Woo produced “Reign of Assassins”.
# The good thing about Peter Chan direction, who also gave us the award winning “The Warlords” a few years ago, is he never sacrifices story for spectacle. “Wu Xia” itself is a much more of a layered drama than a Kung Fu epic as the title suggested, but it has a solid enough premise, excellent performances and outstanding production values to make up for that.

# The remote and mountainous part of China's southwest Yunnan province gives the fabulous and amazing set of sceneries to the picture.

# The dissection of the fight scenes is highly innovative and was shown in a stylistic way. It takes place in Kaneshiro's mind and utilizes science to elucidate how every tiny inflection, every last millisecond, is very important in martial arts.

# Though there are only some action scenes in the film but they are very breathtaking and powerful enough to keep you at the edge of your seat.

# Played, designed and choreographed by Donnie Yen himself, the spectacular fight scenes are certainly some of the best he has created so far.

# The camera records the battle scenes in mid shot and wide shot, that not only gave us the action sequences that we can understand but also provides a clear physical context and close ups of specific fight choreography.

# Interesting mythology in the latter half of the story splendidly pays off the mystery that the film opens with.

# Donnie Yen once again proved that he’s not only good in Kung Fu but also extremely talented to deliver a fantastic acting performance. Carries most of the weight of the film on his shoulders, he’s undeniably the driving force in “Wu Xia”.
# Kaneshiro as Detective Xu, something of an early era C.S.I. investigator, also offers a riveting performance as an overly inquisitive human being. He’s even able to manage a strange accent that sounded funny but consistent throughout the movie.

# Tang Wei doesn't have a great deal to do as the wife of Yen's character but she does it with grace and the most important thing is she just has this great ability to stir the emotion and dramatic scenes with only her face expressions and body languages.

# Shaw Brothers-era martial arts legend, Jimmy Wang, maybe return to the big screen fatter than ever but he surely not losing any single bit of his charisma and provocative acting. Appeared bald and convincingly scary, Wang gave an incredible performance as a cold blooded evil character who had no qualm to kill though the target is his own son.

# Despite the fact that she’s only come out in a short appearance, Hong Kong veteran Kara Hui shows that she still have the solid credibility as one of the best martial arts actresses today.

# Audience members with a greater respect for the Chinese acupuncture may find even more value in the film as they play a pivotal role in Xu's personal life and investigation.

# There are moments when the drama runs a little too stretched, which leaving for a few tedious spots all the way through.

# There is also an uncanny sense of wittiness that actually doesn't quite fit with some of the more suggestive, dark undertones of the narrative.

# The ending scenes are very dramatic, very thrilling. However, there is a conclusion that can be quite a disappointment to some, but for several audiences who are really believe in karma, it makes enough sense.
